People’s Choice Award

I entered the Lane Cove 56th Annual Art Award this year.  I posted earlier that I was doing it for shits and giggles…and that is exactly what happened.

They wouldn’t let me enter two bullfighter paintings that I really wanted to display as they said it was too big for the exhibition (mine tend to be huge!)  So I had to find paintings that fitted the criteria.  Luckily these two ladies where available.

I didn’t win.  I didn’t expect to either, as you have to be “in the crowd” to win a judges award of any kind.  What I mean by that is that I don’t belong to the local art society or the art community or even socialise with the art authorities…  I’m a complete outsider (even though I have lived in the area for over 20 years!).  Can’t do it…fuck the establishment!

However, I did win the People’s Choice Award…YAY!…suck it critics.  Means more to me than some pompus stuckup critic award….although the $1000 would have been handy 🙂

So here I am, cheap wine in hand with a stupid grin surrounded by some lovely ladies.
